AIRPORT ID BADGE INFORMATION


SECURITY BADGING OFFICE

The Airport Administration Office is located inside the Airline Passenger Terminal.  Our hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The office is closed for lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Occasionally, the office is closed for other functions, so please call ahead at (352) 373-0249 to ensure someone will be available to assist you.

Individuals applying for a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge must undergo an FBI fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).  The fingerprinting process is conducted in the Airport Police Office.  Please call to make an appointment; afternoons are preferable.

When conducting activities with the badging office, you may choose to park in the short-term parking lot; please bring your parking stub to the Administration Office for free parking validation.

BADGE APPLICATION

The Gainesville Regional Airport has different ID/Security Badge applications depending on access level. 

If you only require access to the public areas, click here for the badge application.

If you are a General Aviation tenant, click here for the badge application.

If you are a contractor or employee that needs access to the Air Operations Area (AOA) or the Sterile Area (NON-SIDA), click here for the badge application.

If you are a contractor or employee needing access to the airline ramp (SIDA), click here for the badge application.

Applicants applying for a SIDA badge must submit to a fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check.  The fingerprint application is on pages 6 and 7 of the SIDA application.  Applicants cannot have been convicted of any of the TSA disqualifying crimes within the past ten (10) years.  Applicants who have been convicted of a TSA disqualifying crime within the past ten (10) years will be denied an Airport ID Badge

Please note that incomplete applications will not be processed.  This includes the presentation of improper or missing forms of original identification (see next section).

FORMS OF IDENTIFICATION

Badge applicants must present two (2) original, unexpired, forms of identification when submitting their applications to the badging office.  One form of identification must be a valid driver's license.  The other form of ID must be a government issued document that establishes employment authorization.  For example, you may present a passport, your social security card or your birth certificate to substantiate your right to work in the U.S.  For a list of acceptable documents, please click on the following link to view and/or print:  I-9 FORM  Please note that you may not bring in two forms of identification from List B.

Original documents must be presented for inspection when turning in an application.  Photocopies will not be accepted.

BADGE TRAINING

All applicants must receive airport specific training prior to being issued an airport badge.  Training is conducted in the Board Room in the airline passenger terminal.  Training is normally held on Tuesdays, and reservations are required twenty-four (24) hours in advance.  In order to make a reservation, all paperwork and fingerprint results (if required) must be received in advance.

  General Aviation Tenants / Non-SIDA: 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  Contractors and Employees for SIDA:  11:30 a.m. - Noon
  Ramp Driving for the Airline Ramp: Noon - 12:15 p.m.
  Movement Area Driving (runways/ taxiways): 12:15 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
     
  General Aviation Tenants / Non-SIDA:  2:30 p.m. -  3:00 p.m.
  Contractors and Employees for SIDA:   3:00 p.m. -  3:30 p.m.
  Ramp Driving for the Airline Ramp:  3:30 p.m. -  3:45 p.m.
  Movement Area Driving (runways/ taxiways):  3:45 p.m. -  4:30 p.m.
     
  Employees for the Sterile Area:  by appointment only

Please plan to arrive at the Airport Administration Office fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the training class so that an ID picture may be taken.  Late arrivals will not be able to attend the class.

Badges that are lost or stolen must be immediately reported to the Airport Security Coordinator so that the missing badge can be deactivated.  You must also come to the badging office to complete a Lost Badge Form.

A $50 deposit is collected to ensure that the Airport Authority maintains control of all active badges.  In order to receive a deposit refund, the procedures for returning airport badges must be followed.

PROCEDURES FOR RETURNING  ID BADGES

Badges must be immediately returned to the badging office whenever an individual no longer needs access to the restricted area of the airport because he/she resigns, is terminated, retires, is laid-off, on strike, or does not report to work due to medical / FMLA leave.  Please see the reverse side of the badge for the airport mailing address.

NOTE: Contractor Badges are valid only for the construction project for which they were issued.  Upon completion of the project, all badges must be returned.
