Airfare/Tickets Pricing Information

Q: What are the rates? How are ticket prices determined?

A: The pricing on tickets is determined completely by the Airlines. Prices are based upon the amount of travelers on an aircraft and the cost of operating the aircraft. Airlines offer various different fare (price) levels on each aircraft/flight. On average, the lowest fares include 10% of the total seats available on an aircraft.
As the rates are determined by the individual airlines and are subject to change, please contact the airline or a local travel agent for rates.

Q: How can I get lower airfares?

A: Each flight offers various different priced tickets or fares for the seats on an aircraft. The most effective way to attain the lower seat fares is to purchase your tickets early. Generally, the more lead time you have, the better your air fares can be. The earlier planning cannot guarantee you will secure a lower fare but it improves your chances of attaining lower fares significantly.   Please visit our home page to sign up for our weekly Low Fare Alerts.

Air Service Development and Marketing Information

Q: What are the airport and its authority doing to improve air service out of the Gainesville Regional Airport?

A: The Airport Director and Staff are in constant communication with the airlines that currently serve the airport as well as those that we would like to attract. We are working hard to improve choices, fares, and the reliability of air travel out of the Gainesville Regional Airport by fostering an open and cooperative relationship with the airlines that serve Gainesville.

In addition, in early 2010, the Airport Authority launched the Airport Marketing Task Force which is a regional initiative organized with the help of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Ocala/Marion Chamber of Commerce and business leaders to educate and urge local businesses, government and non-profits to adopt a "buy local" element in their travel policies.  Information provided by businesses, governments and non-profits will help airport staff prepare for future airline presentations.  Learn more about the "buy local" initiative.
